Both Tesla and Toyota are set to make exciting appearances at this years Festival of Speed, with very different cars...
First off, Toyota will make a Supra-related announcement during this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. Toyota tweeted:
#ToyotaSupra is back.
A90.
At Goodwood Festival of Speed 2018 @fosgoodwood
That tweet asks more questions than it answers, however as we weren't expecting to see a release of the Supra until next year, but Toyota posted a picture of a fully-camouflaged Supra prototype on its official Twitter account. The camouflage is more colourful than the standard black and white wrap , almost like a race-wrap - perhaps Toyota a planning on competing in this years hill climb?
Tesla on the other hand will most definitely not be competing in this years hill climb event. Tesla have chosen Goodwood as the place they wish to debut the European Model 3. Whether that means we will be seeing a true 'Euro-spec' car or whether it will just be a US model shipped over remains to be seen.
Model 3 production has reached 5000 cars a week, and deliveries are now predicted to arrive 12-18 months after orders are placed, although only the left-hand-drive cars are currently in (mass?) production, meaning UK cars aren't expected until 2020.
Both of these cars are sure to set the festival alight in different ways - the Model 3 could be the car that defines electric cars forever, and the Supra could be the beginnings of a very happy friendship between Toyota and BMW - all we know is anyone attending is sure to have a good time if this is the kind of even Goodwood has become!
